== Características == La ÖSEL se presenta como una moneda local orientada a favorecer relaciones económicas basadas en el trabajo real, la cooperación y el conocimiento mutuo. Según la información publicada por el proyecto, no genera intereses y no está pensada para acumularse ni para utilizarse con fines especulativos. La moneda no dispone de una representación física, como billetes. Los intercambios se realizan mediante procedimientos electrónicos a través de una interfaz web en la que cada participante dispone de una cuenta en ÖSEL. El sistema mantiene una relación de equivalencia de 1:1 entre la ÖSEL y el euro, según la descripción del proyecto.
